Can You Say Keen-Wah (quinoa)?
Here a grain, there a grain, everywhere a grain grain! Actually, this high-protein grain is a seed. Whatever category it falls under, it packs a mighty nutritional punch! Legend has it that Incan armies used quinoa mixed with fat to make what they called “war balls.” I for one happen to love it for it’s protein content and taste. It’s higher in magnesium, calcium, potassium, copper, manganese, phosphorous and zinc than barley, corn and wheat. A great alternative to rice!
Note** this year I have decided to fast one day a week. This past week, towards the evening of my fast I found myself getting extremely tired! I decided to mix 1/2 cup quinoa with 5 cups water and simmer for 20 minutes. I blended and drank some. Within a half hours time I felt so great I decided to run 3 miles.
Other ways I love to prepare quinoa include: cooking it with garlic and onions and enough water to leave juice. I season lightly with kosher salt, Himalayan salt, or liquid aminos… then melt in some REAL butter when done. I also like to add pieces of kale last minute and top with seaweed – SIMPLY DIVINE!!!
Forget the processed “protein” bars – try quinoa instead!
Parasites & Gallstones Know No Boundaries
My latest client just expelled what he referred to as a “ramen noodle on steroids and enough gallstones to make 2 pearl necklaces.” This was his first cleanse ever! I don’t always recommend a liver cleanse as a first cleanse ever, however… I was able to coach him before, during, and after the cleanse. Aside from things living in him, he stated his eyesight had already improved with that one cleanse. Cleansing has also made eating healthy easier for him.
A few of the hundreds of functions your liver is responsible for include:
- Production of red blood cells and protein
- Excretion of bile for digestion
- Circulation
- Improving digestion
- Protecting and detoxifying your blood
- Help in balancing the fat and cholesterol in blood
- Regulating hormones
If you are serious about slowing and reversing the aging process and you want to get rid of any excess weight once and for all, your liver must be cleaned. PRACTICE PREVENTION!
Disease doesn’t just happen overnight. Heart disease, cancers – most all diseases – develop months, even years after your liver failed to keep your blood clean. Dr. Richard Schulze~~ Owner of the American Botanical Pharmacy
Medical Marijuana – to heal or deal?
Here in Los Angeles, medical marijuana shops are springing up left and right. The city is suing 3 collectives and looking to evict another 18. The landlords of these have apparently broken compliance laws.

Heal or Deal?
Law aside… who does the marijuana help most? From first hand experience I saw it help my brother back in the early 80′s. He was 16 and sicker than sick in bed the day after chemotherapy. Thankfully he stopped his chemo treatments and is alive to talk about it today.
Prescribing marijuana has turned into “give an inch and they take a mile.” It has not only been abused for ailments from A to Z. The opposite end (the “dealers”) are making a ton of money. A lot of green thumbs have sprung up because of it.
The good, the bad, and the ugly of it?
- Good – used properly, it can help people with chemotherapy side effects.
- Bad – being prescribed for much more than the relief of chemotherapy treatments.
- Ugly – the obvious greed behind it, not to mention the people driving under the influence of it has killed and paralyzed some.
My thought on it? Many herbs used in moderation (with supervision) not only offer relief, but can in fact be healing and even life saving! We need to get to the root cause of the physical, mental, emotional pain. We do not need to medicate ourselves happy (or pain free). We do not grow in our comfort zone. We can live long naturally healthy and happy lives. A wholesome diet, detox and knowing your purpose are key in taking care of you!

Can Mastering Yourself Help You Age Less?
Did you know your word is your reputation? Are you keeping your word with yourself, your dreams, and others? What does YOUR word stand for?
Have you mastered yourself or do you continue to make excuses for why you don’t look or feel the way you want? Is your job less than what you want? Why settle for looking and feeling less than your best? Why not work on purpose instead of a mere paycheck?
Do you do what you say you are going to do? If not, you are wreaking havoc on yourself (body, mind, AND spirit). Take a stand to know yourself, love yourself and help others in doing the same. Each of us has a specific purpose to fulfill, knowing it can help us all age less. Breaking your word with yourself causes your self-esteem to suffer, which in turn leads to detrimental habits and/or addictions. A vicious cycle of self-induced stress leads to unhappiness and premature aging.

Children Are Digging Their Graves…
with their teeth and it’s not entirely their fault!
A study in the New England Journal of Medicine has found obese children to be twice as likely to die from disease before the age of 55. The study was done on 5,000 American Indian children. It shows a correlation between childhood obesity and early death. The color of skin shouldn’t matter. Obesity is obesity is OBESITY! It is not healthy for anyone at any age.
Parents must take control of their child’s demanding taste buds. It is easier than you think. I’ve been there and done it. Children love structure – they will begin to crave what nature intended. It is easier to look into your child’s eyes now and say no to junk food, than to look into to their eyes in the hospital or on their death bed.
Making meals from scratch will insure it is organic, not processed, loaded with nutrients, and lots of love.
CHEERS and the best of health to you and your family!
